my mom used to work night shift as a nurse and she went to bed when we prepared to go to school..luckily it were only a few days a month...can be really hard...i like how you present the poem, written on a real typewriter...
'your breakfast is dinner'....this is such a vivid and honest portrayal of the reality of working life for some. My father in law worked night shifts for 37 years in the same factory....what a reality...There is so much that is well observed..the tip toeing of the children's feet for example...this is just real life spilled out on paper....and I love the presentation....something so so cool about producing something on a typewriter .... Awesome job
oh man, felt man...ships passing in the night with you and your family...together but not, this def creates tension and a tightness in my chest at the thought of having to do it again...
I couldn't have described your childhood better...beautiful and brought tears to my eyes...

ReplyDeleteVivid imagery in this piece and love the title and presentation. Very creative and true. I feel the tension and release in those moments past.
