Turning

The world stopped
For but a moment
In the midst of
Joy and Yuletide

Stopped spinning
On its tilted axis
Under the shine of
Sun

Drinks and gaiety
Exchanged as the
New year rang
True

But left behind
Leaving a barren
Wake
Where spring refused to bloom

Hung in each
Home
A wreath
Long into summer

Do They See

I wonder
If I am alone in my
Thought
Alone in my
Head
Do others
See the world like I
Do
Walking into the supermarket
Scanning the produce
Do they
See
What I see

Do they see a
Cacophony
Of brightly colored
Primary hues
Exploding
Into beautiful art?
Each fruit set to
Detonate
The moment my eyes
Take in their
Beauty

Do they
See
Walking down the aisle
From fermenting vineyards
Chardonnays and Merlots
Sparkling and not
Shattering in shards of green
Red and gold
At their feet
Making the aisle
Impassable

Am I alone in my
Thought
When I see what lies before
Me
Strewn in destruction
Precisionly crafted buildings
Crumpled at my feet
Sun exploding into
Wonder
When life becomes
Extinct
Oceans freezing over in
Mid wave

How is it not possible
To see the beauty in the
Fragile
In the
Vulnerable
Existence
Of each thing
Of each being
Resting on an edge
Thin like air

With so much possibility
How can people not
See
Like
Me
And love
Each moment
Each soul

Carried Home

Let this carry you forward
In the time of unknown
When the flame feeds on wax
That does not diminish
Burning brightly like sun
Radiating unity beyond reach
Staying strong and resilient
In the coming winds of uncertainty

Let this ivory candle light the way
Through divergent paths past the solstice
Giving guidance and certainty
In times of the uncertain
Illuminating footfalls on uneven ground
As all else falls away into summer
Drifting in a sea where nothing is lost

Let this flame find you
In the darkness of the day
When despair settles in
Beyond the reach of the sun
When days pile into days
And road washes away from unseen storms
Let it carry you forth
Over times of loss
Out of perdition
And into in the equinox
Where once again you are home

Summer

You have passed
Beyond the boundaries
Of good hope
And good measure

A time of morning
Sun
And beach
Swells
Beyond the walls
Where pupils
Sit
Dilated
With distain
Beyond the
Strain
Of schedules
Of moments
Of knowing
A time of unknown
When paths cross
To tempt
Fate
Stepping to free
And light
Convictions
Hold true
In summer time
When tranquility
Builds trust
In the unknown
When fear
Subsides by the sea
When destinations
And arrivals
Are not timed
Nor expected
But knowing
The unknown
As it is
The now
The present
Once future
Time
When clarity
Eases focus
And purpose
Arises
Soon to be
Past
And distant
Part of the
Known
When all
Is known
Leaving
Time to step
Again to the
Unknown
The now

Intentions

Your intentions
Were hidden
Behind a wall
Of intention
Of which
You did not know
What it was
But your
Intention
Masked behind
Emotion
Behind guilt
Your intentions
Were not received
As they were
Sent
As they weren't
The intentions
Of them
As their
Intentions
Were different
Than the
Intentions
You meant

Four Months

Staring
Standing
On the cold bathroom
Tile
Searching the face
In the mirror
For what has
Changed
The years
Have been kind
But something has
Changed
The face is
Familiar
But it is not
True
Staring
Searching
The mirror
Has not
Lied
The face
Is not the same
Four months
Time
Is all it took
Four months
For it all to change
Eyes dark with
Shadow
Muscles forgotten how
To smile
Life has washed
Away
Joy remains
Walled
Behind the veil
And you
Simply Exist

Eclipsed

Sometimes the sun
Does not shine
Sometimes the sun
Dims from view
Just at the moment
When you need it
Most
It is
Gone
Eclipsed
Hidden in the recess
Of time
Without warning
The brightly
Burning orb
Explodes into
An impenetrable
Abyss
Leaving only
Shadow in its
Wake
Like a death toll
Calling for an end
It has evaporated
Into oblivion
Into nothing
